The Megger MTO250 50 A transformer ohmmeter is a field-portable, line-operated device specifically designed to safely and accurately measure the resistance of various types of magnetic windings. It is suitable for testing transformers, shunt reactors, and rotating machine windings, as well as performing low resistance measurements on connections, contacts, and control circuits.
The MTO250 is valuable for testing the winding and contact resistance of load tap changers (LTCs), as well as evaluating the 'make-or-break' transition event. Being the only moving part of a transformer, LTCs are mechanical devices and thus one of the most vulnerable components, leading to more failures and outages than any other part. Consequently, LTCs require frequent testing and maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation.
